Sankarea because it has a zombie cat and what more could you possibly need?

(No really though it’s a pretty good anime, despite being awfully ecchi sometmes.)

I’ll try to think of others, but that’s the first thing to come to mind besides Soul Eater.

Gonna toss my vote in for Monster of Frankenstein. Wouldn’t mind most of this other randomness, though, bahaha.

    Dragon Ball Z.

    Vegeta.

Sacrifices himself for the greater good, proving once and for all that he really has become one of the good guys.

But not before hugging his son for the first time, and saying how proud he is to be his father.

For a series that goes into complete overkill with bringing characters back from the dead, DBZ somehow makes Majin Vegeta's death one of the most emotional parts of the series. Best. Character development. Ever.

As for other anime/manga deaths, we all know what happens in the Death Note anime. When L dies, your first reaction is, "What?" Then, "Wait, no. That can't-" And then, "HOLY FFF-"… Whether you're rooting for L or Light, it's the same. The fact that Light was able to pull it off at all is mindblowing, and then you're left with nothing but the gaping black hole where their genius, ever-suspsenseful battle-of-wits used to be. And in the end, Light himself dies, which–despite my complete lack of giving-a-care for the rest of the anime after L is gone–is one of my favorite parts because WHOA that just happened and it just makes you stop and gape in wonder.

Gaara, Itachi, Jiraiya, Minato, Kakashi (during the fight with Pein–it still counts), and pretty much every major villain… Mostly Itachi, though. Gaaaah that part was good. And sad. Likewise, Jiraiya's death almost made me cry despite me not even liking him all that much before that arc… Bah. So many characters die tragically/beautifully in Naruto that I wouldn't know where to start so I just won't even go there. XD

Also, all the stuff that happens at the end of No. 6, if that counts as "death". Waah~ so good but so emotional~. But it turns out okay!… sorta…

Can't think of any more right now, but these are what I can think of from my favorite series, at least. =P

Hmm, lessee… What games have I played that had death scenes in them?

The first that comes to mind, obviously, is Aeris in Final Fantasy VII. TBQH, I hated her so it wasn't quite as sad for me as it should have been. However, even though I only got around to playing this game myself about a year ago and therefore knew a lot of major plot elements beforehand (like the fact that she's killed mid-game), it was still kind of sudden and I was still able to appreciate the drama of the moment. Cloud's reaction is what's important anyway, and even though I didn't feel much loss at her death myself, I felt plenty of empathy grief for our favorite blonde, spiky-haired swordsman. There's a reason that scene is so classic.

While we're on the subject of Final Fantasy, I guess you could count the end of FFX as a "death scene" for Tidus. Although, of course, the good ending of FFX-2 fixes everything which is the only reason to ever play that game. Probably extremely biased here (X is my favorite FF) but I've always thought it was pretty emotional. Intangible goodbye hug = saddest thing ever. And Yuna's heartbreaking speech afterward sticks with me to this day.

…OOH OOH! I just thought of a good one: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The Great Deku Tree. It's a brief cutscene, but I've always thought it was amazingly executed. His powerful final words, his slowed speech, the creaking of his branches as his leaves start to fall and the color seemingly drains from his bark… And then, Mido's emotional reaction at the death of their leader/father-figure/guardian. The Tree's body remains in the clearing, and you're reminded of his sacrifice every time you come to Kokiri Forest. But then the Deku Tree Sprout appears, and his predecessor's death is given even more meaning as a new era begins.
    …I freaking love Zelda.

Also from Zelda: Impa from Skyward Sword. She's just like Odysseus' dog, waiting all those years just to see her master one last time. D':

Not-so-great deaths? The only one that immediately comes to mind is Axel. I've never played Days, but Axel's death in Kingdom Hearts 2 was still devastating to me because WHY DID IT HAVE TO HAPPEN? By far the coolest guy from Organization XIII and all I remember from that fight is him having to die because "it was the only way" or something equally convoluted. (Okay, okay, I admit I don't remember much of what happened at that part of the game. I just remember being upset by it because Axel was coooool. XD Then seeing his gravestone in that room toward the end just made it even worse because SERIOUSLY WHY.)

Ooh, also, I'm still playing through Final Fantasy V, so maybe it'll seem more meaningful later, but so far Galuf's death is kind of similar to Axel's because it just left me wondering WHY. I don't want your granddaughter on my team, Galuf! Give me back my hilarious, bad@$$ old man character!

I feel like I'm forgetting some deaths, though. Did anyone important die in Tales of Symphonia? Or ToS: Dawn of the New World? … Suikoden III? … What about other Zelda games? If I think of more, I'll be back.

(If non-RPGs count, I guess I should also praise Halo: Reach for actually making a rather emotional ending by throwing the player into a hopeless situation where you're forced to die a hero. I'm not generally a huge fan of FPSs, but that was a pretty cool game because of that moment.)

I have Black 2. Rolling with Oshawott this time, not because Serperior has been replaced in my heart as the coolest Gen V starter, but because his moveset was extremely lacking in Black 1 (I taught mine Aerial Ace for lack of anything better) and I’m hoping Samurott’s will impress me a bit more. xP Honestly, I used to be a rabid Fire-type fan (Charizard! Typhlosion! Blaziken! <3 ), but I'm getting sick of the Fire/Fighting combo. Tepig is adorable, but Emboar is boring to me.

Anyone else using an excessive number of Eeveelutions in their party this time around because of Castelia Park? 😀 3/6 of my party are already Eeveelutions, and I'm thinking of adding another once I can get Glaceon or Leafeon.

I would love to do Funfest stuff (or other things) if others would. =P Beats sitting for an hour before shows start!

I’m also relatively limited in what I’ve seen. Most of these will probably be things I discovered in Anime Club last year, actually, lol. But, off the top of my head:

    1. Ao no Exorcist (Christian mythology + Japanese mythology = awesome.)
    2. Death Note (Two words: Mind gaaaaames. <3)
    3. Dragon Ball Z (Blame my older brother. But seriously, I love this show for its characters and philosophies. Plus the music in the English dub is effin' fantastic.)
    4. Naruto (Super long, but worth it for the many fascinating characters and extremely detailed universe.)
    5. No. 6 (Short but phenomenal. Also if you like the anime then GO READ the online translation of the book. It's blowing my mind and I want a copy!)
    6. Ouran High School Host Club (Still makes me laugh uncontrollably no matter how many times I watch it. Best shoujo ever in my opinion. :3 )
    7. Rurouni Kenshin (OMIGAH the philosophy. Also swordsmanship is awesome.)
    8. Soul Eater (Genuinely CREEPY moments. Unforgettable characters and story.)
    9. Steins;Gate (Prepare to have your mind blown. Then sewn back together, stomped on a few times, and blown apart again. Plot twists and mind%!&#s galore.)
    10. Trigun (Vash is one of my favorite heroes from ANYTHING EVER, for a number of reasons. This is saying something, because I REALLY love some of the heroes from other anime, books, games, etc.)

Also Hetalia, if that even counts, haha. 😀 And of course if we're including movies, then anything by Miyazaki Hayao is automatically #1.
